I made my first attempt at making a
website around 2001. I actually took a well known site and
tailored it to what I wanted and just used it from my hard drive.
What did I want? I wanted a place that had the links, which I
visited a lot, all in one place. I wanted a few of the little
free-ware programs, that I still use, available no matter where I
was computing from. I wanted links to homework sites available, as
I still like to learn stuff even if I am getting on in years. But
in order to have all that I wanted in a website, I had to make my
own.
As I did not want it to seem that I
was using someone else's work, I put together my own site in 2002
and put it on the web. MicksPlace.net was born. One can
also reach MicksPlace.net through Lail.org or Lail.net.
The links on my site are rarely
changed. As I have stated: These are places that I like to visit. MicksPlace.net
was put on the web for my own use. But I have found that during
the past several years, a few other people are now calling it
home, and a good many more people use it each month.
I am happy that so many people like to use my site, and are happy
with the way it is, as I do not think it is going to change
anytime soon. Other than the occasional change in the way the
Index page looks, or the addition or removal of a link every now
and then, MicksPlace.net will remain as it was intended to
be: A place with places that I like to visit. My site is very much
serving it's purpose, and hopefully it will be here for a long
time.
I hope that you enjoy your time
here, and you are most welcome to come back anytime. If you would
like a link added, let me know and I will ponder over it at
suppertime. :-) Mick
